How to keep up a school routine, at home

So you're learning from home this fall, and you're worried that school won't look the same as it always has. Can you still crush that equation without going up to the board? How are you supposed to catch up with your besties at lunch? The best way to keep killing it as you're used to is to create a scheduled routine. This is the perfect time to showcase your autonomy and accountability! Keep reading for all the things you *need* to include.

Electronic breaks

Chances are, you're spending a lot of time on your computer during the school day. Between typing papers and zooming with your class, staring at a screen is the primary activity of your day. It's important to schedule in some screen-free time to rest your eyes! This doesn't mean that you can't scroll through Insta or snap your friends, just schedule in a few hours of "off the grid".

Plan out your meals

It may feel weird to take a lunch break in your own kitchen, but it's important to have 3 full meals a day. This means getting up before 8am (ugh, we know) or whenever your online classes begin in order to have a healthy, hearty breakfast. Take time to refuel with lunch later on. Huge perk: you have way more meal options when you're cooking!

Schedule homework time

The pressure might be on to grind until all hours during remote learning. However, you can and should set boundaries for yourself regarding schoolwork. Try to relegate all schoolwork and homework to the pre-dinner hours, and take the evening for relaxation and fun.

Socialize

One of the toughest changes to your school setting will be not seeing your friends each day. Make sure to schedule in some social time, either via video chat or a distanced outside hang, in order to keep yourself mentally healthy!
