Rock your half-day

What’s the best way to start winter break with a bang? Rocking the last few hours that separates you from festive freedom, of course. Sure, waking up to a blaring alarm clock might not put ya in the mood, but tune the radio to some holiday jams and you’ll be busting a move at you tug on your blue jeans. Don’t miss the bus, babe! This half day is gonna be one for the record books.

Dress up

If you’re the sort of person who loooves pairing up red and green during the holidays, don’t hesitate to let your style flag fly this half day. Go subtle, with red and green jewelry, or all-out with a chunky red turtleneck and green matchstick cords. Do be wary of your school’s dress code, though. I’m sure there’s more than one Grinch patrolling the halls and tugging Santa hats off students’ heads.

Get spirited

Why be shy? Before winter break, many teachers ditch lessons for holiday-themed fun. Don’t sit on the sidelines—jump in feet-first! Whether it’s kicking Santa Baby Bingo’s butt or playing name that carol, we’re betting you’ve got what it takes to win first prize.

Bring a treat to share during lunch

Go for something breakfast-y, like banana bread muffins studded with semi-sweet chocolate chips. Want more ideas? Bring in honey wheat bread and Nutella finger sammies or snag a bag of mini-bagels and a tub of cream cheese.

Take the time to say thanks

Instead of running out the door with your sistahs as soon as the bell rings, tell ‘em you’ll catch them in the hall in a minute and stay after to speak with Teach. Offer up a sincere thank-you (and maybe a baggie of homemade peppermint bark) before bookin’ it to the bus.

Now what are you waiting for? Let winter break begin!
