Holiday traditions to start this year
The holidays are a fabulous time to start making new traditions. Finding new ways to create memories with your loved ones is important—and traditions will give you something to always look forward to every holiday season. Now, let's find the perf tradition for you to start this year...
1. Host a gingerbread house contest

Split your family and friends into teams and have a gingerbread house contest. Set a timer to make things extra exciting! The team with the best gingerbread house wins bragging rights (until the next year, ofc).
2. Visit a holiday light display

Maybe your town has a gorgeous Christmas tree—or you may have some really festive neighbors! Take a night to hit a few light displays in your area. Grab some hot chocolate to make this tradition even more memorable.
3. Watch Christmas movies on Christmas Eve
Sitting by the Christmas tree with your fave blanket and fuzzy socks? So relaxing. Need movie suggestions? Try Home Alone, The Grinch, The Christmas Chronicles or The Polar Express. Netflix always has rom-com Christmas movies, too. Grab some Christmas cookies and stream away.
4. Go ice skating
Search for an ice skating rink near you, either indoors or outdoors. This is a fun activity for you and your besties to do together. Skating brings instant laughter—and the adrenaline rush that you get from gliding across the floor will be worth the visit.
5. Sing Christmas carols at nursing homes
Find a few nearby nursing homes and gather up some friends from your church choir. Come up with a handful of old-school Christmas carols to help the seniors feel loved this holiday season. Nothing beats spreading some holiday cheer!
6. Create holiday cards for hospitalized children

Craft some thoughtful holiday cards to send to a children's hospital. Adorn your cards with cute drawings and lots of sparkles, ofc. The holidays are an important time to think of others and spread love—and some children aren't as fortunate to be home for the holidays. With this tradition, you can lean into your artsy side *and* make someone's day.
