What your New Year's resolution should be, based on your Enneagram type

It's that time of year again—time to start thinking about your New Year's resolutions, ofc! We won't lie: it can be tough to set those intentions and stick to them long after the new year has started, which is why it's *so* important to make sure your resolution aligns with your personality. And what better way to do that than by matching it with your Enneagram? Read on to find out your perfect New Year's resolution, based on your Enneagram type. (Not sure of yours yet? You can find it by taking this quiz.)

Type 1 (The Reformer): Embrace your creative side

As a super organized and self-disciplined One, you might have an entire list of New Year's resolutions already planned out. Still, we suggest you add another—yep, let's bring out your inner artist. Sometimes, the fear of making mistakes might hold you back from doing what you *really* want to do. So this year, take time to do something creative without fear of judgment. Whether it's painting, crocheting, journaling or even signing up for a dance class, having an artistic outlet is a great way to get a break from your busy schedule and embrace a whole new side of yourself.

Type 2 (The Helper): Make time for self-care

Warm and friendly Twos never hesitate to lend a helping hand to anyone. But sometimes, that means you might struggle with knowing when to help yourself instead. This year, make sure you have some definite "me time" in your schedule. Maybe you'll finally check out that new TV show you've been wanting to watch, treat yourself to a shopping (or window-shopping) trip to the mall or design your very own at-home spa day. While everyone admires the way you make others feel welcome, remember that you *so* deserve to be your own bestie too.

Type 3 (The Achiever): Plan out some goals

As a determined and ambitious Three, you've probably accomplished *so* much over the past year. But now, with the new year just around the corner, it might be a good idea to start setting some new goals. We know you always aim high (and we totally love that for you!), but your aspirations could even be as simple as drinking more water, starting your homework earlier than usual or looking into some new after-school jobs. After all, sometimes the small steps are the ones that matter most. Whatever you decide, we know that with your charming, hardworking nature, you'll shine at everything you set out to achieve this year.

Type 4 (The Individualist): Celebrate your friendships

Hey, creative cutie! Sensitive and introspective Fours aren't afraid to express themselves and feel *all* the feel—no matter what. Still, when it comes to friendships, you might be a little more reserved. This year, take the opportunity to expand your already fab circle of friends. You might find an unexpected BFF in the new girl from drama club who has the same favorite musical as you do or the next-door neighbor who's your age and you always run into on dog walks. Since you're super self-aware, you probably already know that you have so many awesome qualities. Now, give other people the chance to appreciate them.

Type 5 (The Investigator): Pick up a new skill or hobby

Innovative, curious Fives love to learn—and aren't afraid to explore new topics or ask tough questions in the process. That's why the new year is the perfect time for you to get into a hobby that you might not have dedicated too much time to before. Maybe you've always wanted to learn a new language, sharpen your cooking skills, try out gardening or get started on your ever-growing reading list. Not only will you get some much-needed time away from all of that schoolwork, but you'll also add to the wide range of knowledge you already have. Think of all of the new things you'll learn along the way!

Type 6 (The Loyalist): Work on decision-making

Super-loyal Sixes are *always* there for their family and friends. If you're a Six, you tend to really care about the opinions of the people you love. Sometimes, you might find it tough to listen to your own inner voice because you're so busy paying attention to those of the people around you. This year, don't be afraid to make your own decisions. You might start out small (like telling your BFF you would rather order sushi for dinner instead of pizza) and then work up to bigger things (like deciding which colleges you should apply to). Ofc, it's important to take advice from other people, but it's time to start trusting yourself a little more, too.

Type 7 (The Enthusiast): Start practicing mindfulness

Energetic and spontaneous Sevens believe that excitement is always just around the corner. You're probably already planning your next family vacay or friend group hangout. We love the carefree, fun-loving vibes you bring to any situation, but while you're always searching for a new adventure, remember to take a pause for a sec and enjoy the present moment. There are *so* many ways to practice mindfulness and make sure you're settled in the here and now. Maybe you'll meditate for a few minutes every day or do a major cleaning sesh and declutter your closet this weekend. Whatever you choose, get ready to enter chill mode in the new year.

Type 8 (The Challenger): Give back to your community

Confident and resourceful Eights are def natural leaders. You aren't afraid to take charge and speak up for what you believe in, no matter what. That's why your perfect New Year's resolution focuses on giving back to your community. You might decide to donate money to a cause you care about, volunteer for a local organization or take up a tutoring job. You could even make your own fundraiser or initiative—maybe you want to hold a bake sale or trivia night at your school. There's never a bad time to start making a difference in your community, and we see you creating great change this year.

Type 9 (The Peacemaker): Take breaks to unplug

As the creative, accepting peacemakers of the Enneagram, Nines want to be grounded and in total harmony with the world around them. But if you're a Nine, sometimes you might feel too "plugged in," as your people-pleasing nature makes you love the instant rewards that come with social media interactions. You're always showing your besties support in their Insta comments or getting lost in TikTok rabbit holes, but it's also important to take time for yourself and unplug for a while. You could try setting time limits or taking mini social media breaks every week. Soon, you'll totally find your own inner peace and tune into what *you* want and feel.
