This past October, the editors of GL set sail with Barbizon Modeling on their Passport to Discovery Cruise—a scouting event at sea!—to find fresh faces for the pages of GL. We spent five days cruising crystal-blue waters (and making stops for beach time in Grand Caymen and Cozumel!) while we met hundreds of talented teens interested in kickstarting their fashion and entertainment careers.

Onboard, Barbizon students had the opportunity to take classes, meet with industry professionals and hone their audition skills—when they weren't splashing around in the pool or belting it out at karaoke night, of course. And the best part? Everyone had the opportunity to get signed with the casting and talent agencies who were onboard looking for their next star.

For the third year in a row, GL selected one extremely special Passport to Discovery attendee to recieve our PTD Model Search Award. Our winner, Destiny W., was flown out to the set of our February/March photo shoot to appear in a stunning beauty editorial. From sailing the high seas on PTD to slaying her GL shoot, Destiny learned everything from how to rev up her runway walk to valuable tips on getting started as a model. She had an amazing experience—and you can, too.

Below, check out Destiny's top tips for following in her fashionable footsteps—then read on to learn how *you* can secure your spot on Passport to Discovery 2018.

Destiny W. on finding confidence and *killing* it on set...

1. Believe in yourself.
"I went on PTD because I wanted the opportunity to showcase myself in front of agents and get discovered. I learned that staying true to yourself and being confident (aka believing you are beautiful inside *and* out) are the keys to being successful."

2. Get comfortable with the uncomfortable.
"At the shoot, it was hard for me to smile because I've always been more comfortable with my serious look. But I ended up loving the pictures I was smiling in. I'm so thankful they worked with me on making noises and laughing out loud to teach me to get comfortable and confident with my smile."

3. Never give up.
"If you want something, you have to go for it with the mindset that failure isn't an option. We all fall down sometimes—but the people who get back up and don't quit are the ones who become stars. Keep your head held high and don't let anyone tear you down."

4. Have fun!
"My shoot with GL was so amazing. I loved getting my hair and makeup done and feeling like a star. It was a super fun and exciting atmosphere."
