Get Inspired

These girls are "ready to play"--are you?

Just in time for the start of the World Series tonight, Baseball for All released this inspiring and beautiful video of girls speaking out about their love of classic American sport.

Sure, baseball is great—but why does this video even need to be made? Well, Baseball for All shared this startling statistic: Over 100,000 girls play youth baseball, but only 1,000 girls play high school baseball. Now, we're echoing their question: What happened to those 99,000 players? Their love of baseball didn’t just go away, nor did their talent. Did they all join a softball team? Did they ditch sports altogether?

If they did happen to ditch sports or join a softball team, it could be because they've been told that "baseball is not for girls." I'm sure you thinking, "Uh, what?! Baseball *is* for girls." You're right. But if you've ever doubted your ability to do something, anything—especially something that is in a male-dominated arena—do it. You'll set the standard for other girls who have the same interests as you but are too afraid to indulge them and you'll be proud that you didn't let something as silly as gender get in the way of doing something that you truly love.

Is baseball a boy's sport? Is there something that you love that is traditionally done by the opposite gender? Sound off in the comments.
