14 struggles every third wheel has dealt with
Because you’re the awesome, amazing gal that you are, you often get invited to hang out with your friends. However, sometimes, these outings turn into you playing third wheel to a friend and her boyfriend, or two friends that are dating. You love your friends, you really do, but you can only handle so much PDA and so many inside jokes. As the saying goes, “three’s a crowd.” Here are fourteen GIFs that perfectly describe the struggle of being that dreaded third wheel.
1. Two of your good friends are dating and they want you to hang out with them. Joy.
Yay couples. Yay relationships. Yay love.
2. You try to make up an excuse why you can’t go - sadly, “pamper night” doesn’t work that well.
You have a really busy night planned with yourself and cannot be bothered right now.
3. Since the couple *really* requires your attendance you agree to accompany them on their date.
“I guess I can make some room in my schedule because I’m so important to you guys.”
4. When your friends ask if you are going to bring a guy, you give them this look.
5. You also refuse to be set up with a stranger.
“I don’t want or need anyone right now. But thank you for your concern.”
6. You try to pump yourself up with a pep talk before you fill the role of third wheel.
You’re cool. You’re solo. You’re independent.
7. Things take a downturn when you can feel people judging you.
Might as well hold up a “THIRD WHEEL” sign at this point.
8. The minute your friends start cuddling, you start playing “All By Myself” in your head.
Everything is fine.
9. You feel nauseous when friends start using lovey-dovey nicknames and tickling each other.
“Excuse me? I’m going to need a bucket soon. Thanks.”
10. PDA makes you annoyed and uncomfortable. You want to leave immediately.
You do not want to witness your two friends kissing ever again.
11. Sometimes you’re ready to go home, but your friends are engaged in a major makeout sesh.
“I’ll just wait over here by myself while you guys do your thing.”
12. When the couple asks you if you’re having a fun time and you smile back at them.
Yup, this is one of the best nights ever!
13. Some people think it’s okay to question why you are third wheeling. Is it because you’re lonely?
Lonely? What is this concept you speak of?
14. It can be difficult to navigate your way around a super in-synch duo, but you try your best.
You always eventually find a comfortable place in between the two. You deserve to win an award for best friend/third wheel ever! Now go home and treat yourself to some ice cream.
