Sometimes good friends can be hard to find. While buds may come and go, these are seven sure signs your friend will always be there.

1. They’re loyal

They’ll stick by your side no matter what. This pal is in it for the long run. A good friend is someone who will do whatever you need and will always be there for you. After all isn’t that what best friends are for?

2. They know how to make your laugh

You know someone is your best friend when it doesn’t take too much to make the two of you crack up laughing. They know how to see the humor in your lives, and everything is funnier when you’re with your best friend.

3. They listen to you

They’ll sit around and listen to you talk, whether it’s just about how your day is going or if you have a real problem. A true friend is always there to listen to your story...even when you start to ramble. (Fair warning, though: They might still call you on taking 30 minutes to explain a 5 minute conversation!)

4. They’re not afraid to tell you you’re wrong

They will call you out if they think you need a little help. They care about you enough they are not afraid to be honest, even if it’s something you might not want to hear.

5. They support you

Whether it’s supporting a decision you made or attending your sporting events, real friends will always support you.

6. They’re fun to be around

You wouldn’t consider them a best friend unless you liked hanging out with them. It’s always a good time when the two of you are together, and that’s just one of the reasons you two get along so well.

7. They’re trustworthy

You know that you can trust your BFF with anything important, whether it is keeping a secret or asking for advice. A friend should be someone you can always trust.
