Star Signs

Your future career, based on your life path number

Astrology girlies, listen up: Numerology just became your newest obsession.

Your sun sign tells you how to behave. Your moon sign tells you how you really feel. Your rising sign tells you how people perceive you. Enter: numerology, which tells you even more about who you are—and how you can apply all of these starry insights to actually transform your life.

Think of numerology as astrology's slightly more mystical bestie: They're fundamentally different from each other and have their own ways of going about things, but they share the same ultimate goals (aka helping you learn about yourself) and complement one another (so knowing your number can illuminate your understanding of your star chart).

Ready to discover your life path number? Math time! Here's how to get it.

Write down your birthday in numeric digits. We'll use Taylor Swift's Dec. 13, 1989, birthdate as an example: 12-13-1989. Split the digits and add them up until you get a number 1-9 (if you get an 11, 22 or 33 after your initial calculation, stop right there and read below). Example: 12=1+2 (3). 13=1+3 (4). 1989=1+9+8+9 (27). Add up those numbers (3+4+27) to get 34. Split that number to get a single digit: 3+4=7, which is Taylor's number. Landed on an 11, 22 or 33 after your initial calculation? (For instance, if you were born on Jan. 16, 2010—which is 1+1+6+2+1—your life path number comes to 11.) Lucky you! You've got a master number, which is considered especially powerful and significant. (Confused? Click here to have the internet calculate it for you.)

Now that you've got your life path number, see what it means about you—and your future.

1: The Leader

You're bold and independent, with an innate drive to lead (even if you haven't actually headed up anything...yet). You effectively block out the noise and simply take action—and it inspires those around you to do the same. In your view, things could always be a little bit better, so why settle?

Your future path: Starting your own company to solve a problem that's close to your heart, like a climate change nonprofit, a STEM incubator for girls or an app to help with mental health.

2: The Idealist

A peacemaker, you hate gossip, and you're happiest when everyone around you is getting along. Friends turn to you to mediate their problems and be an empathetic sounding board when they're in the midst of drama. You always see the good in others and approach conflict with the nuance needed to actually find a solution.

Your future path: Your easily adaptable, harmony-seeking personality makes you well-suited for a career in politics, psychology or human resources.

3: The Orator

Whether you're giving a summer school presentation or composing a witty text to your crush, you always have a way with words. You're also empathetic and can effortlessly make others feel seen, even in the most casual convos.

Your future path: Go for—you guessed it—anything involving writing, ideally with a performance element. Your communication abilities are sure to shine in a career as an author, actor, advertising copywriter, speechwriter or songwriter.

4: The Architect

Driven, thoughtful and a little bit stubborn (in a good way!), you're defined by your practicality and organization. From putting together awesome friend hangouts to mapping out the ultimate finals study schedule, you prefer to be the one with the plan—and everyone around you knows that's probably for the best.

Your future path: You work best independently on high-intensity projects that you can see through from top to bottom. Depending on your passions, careers in teaching, event planning, software development and project management are all strong options.

5: The Explorer

OK, free spirit! You aren't one to sit still or commit to one aesthetic or vibe, like how you were known for loving soccer only to snag the lead role in the summer theater production. Granted, you don't always see everything through, but switching up your style/hobbies/friends/goals means you are never bored.

Your future path: Truly, it doesn't matter what you're doing as long as you have the ability to go where you want...when you want. A freelance business (maybe it's photography, video editing, tutoring or tech) is sure to have you bopping around the globe in pursuit of your many, ever-changing goals.

6: The Healer

You're known as a nurturer, the type who naturally creates safe spaces for others to be themselves and get vulnerable. Your gentle, genuine energy makes even the newest friends totally open up to you almost instantly. While you thrive in deep, one-on-one conversations, you can also bring a much-needed grounding to the group chat.

Your future path: It's in your nature to heal and lift up everyone you interact with. Whether you pursue a career in the medical field, spend time mentoring kids or help animals in need, you're going to thrive in any helping profession.

7: The Investigator

No matter how random or inconsequential, you have to get to the bottom of every single mystery in your life. You cannot just drop the drama—you must know if your Netflix OTP is going to end up together, if your bestie's crush likes her back and if that 23-part true crime TikTok tell-all is legit.

Your future path: Yes, you should truly be an actual spy. But in case you're not up for becoming a private eye or joining the CIA, look into game development (where you'll make puzzles for others to solve) or journalism (where your sleuthing skills will come in handy).

8: The Hustler

Stellar grades? Tons of extracurriculars? A packed weekend schedule? Check, check and check. You work hard, play harder...then work some more, and somehow make it all look kinda easy. But you know the truth: You hustle hard for everything you excel in—and won't accept anything less than success.

Your future path: You can commit to challenging long-term goals, so law school, finance or entrepreneurship are all well within your reach. With your work ethic and ambition, it's giving CEO.

9: The Old Soul

Intuitive and introspective, you quietly take in the world around you and try to make it a kinder, happier place. You're drawn to helping others but prefer to stay anonymous and out of the spotlight while doing so. (Garnering a ton of attention is kind of your worst nightmare.)

Your future path: As a researcher, you'll look for innovative new ways to help others and make change behind the scenes...kind of a perfect fit? Plus, presenting your findings gets you out of your comfort zone for the right reasons.

Master Numbers

11: The Psychic

One of the three master numbers, you're a more intense version of a 2: sensitive, idealistic and observant. Sometimes you feel overwhelmed by all of the thoughts/feelings/energies around you, wishing you could turn off your brain (and heart). When that happens, your best bet is turning your emotions into action.

Your future path: High-stakes careers (like being a diplomat, activist or human rights advocate) are likely to match your intensity and focus.

22: The Creator

Take a 4, turn it up a few notches and there you are. You're creative and detail-oriented in a way that fosters dynamic, innovative leadership. You take projects from start to finish in a way that impresses and inspires.

Your future path: We see you, girl-boss. By going into tech and artificial intelligence, you're likely to spearhead the next big innovation that's going to change all of our lives. We also wouldn't rule out a run for elected office (Madame President?).

33: The Guru

For most people, giving spot-on advice nearly 100% of the time isn't possible...but you're not most people. A 6 with double the healing energy, you offer not only a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on, but poignant, inspiring comments that catalyze those around you to make hard but helpful choices.

Your future path: Take your talents to the wider world as a motivational speaker, influencer or podcast host. We'll be waiting for your TED talk.
