These Weird Lavender Marks Won't Go Away
These weird marks, lavender in color, have appeared on both sides of my hips. They won’t go away. What gives?
You know the phrase “growing pains”? Well, what you have—stretch marks—often occur in teens going through growth spurts. You are not alone.
According to Dr. Vivian Bucay, a dermatologist in San Antonio, Texas, “Stretch marks are the loss of collagen in the deeper layers of skin. New ones are pink to purple in color.” Dr. Bucay says that on girls, the marks are most common on the thighs, abdomen and breasts, but unfortunately, there’s no way to make them disappear. “With time, those ugly red or purple marks will fade, making them less apparent,” says Dr. Bucay.
