6 sneaky headache cures

Nothing is worse than a headache that sneaks up on ya. If you've ever suffered from one, you know how downright awful it can be. But don't let it stop you from having a great day--just follow these no-pill cures to make that annoying ache go away.

Catch some zzz's

Stayed up late last night watching a Christmas movie marathon and woke up with a headache? There's a good chance you're experiencing this due to lack of sleep. Studies from Missouri State University have shown that there's a connection between lack of sleep and headaches. So basically, the nerves in your head act up and become more sensitve if you haven't had a good night of sleep. So what's the solution? Make sure you are getting all the beauty sleep you can get, girl.

Drink that H2O

Yeah yeah... you've heard it before, but it's so true. Not drinking enough water leads to dehydration which is the fastest way to get a headache. Drink half your weight in ounces a day. So if you weigh 110 pounds you should be drinking 55 ounces of water a day (which is about 7 cups). Tired of boring water? Infuse it with berries or lemon to give it some flavor.

Peppermint oil

Already got a headache and want it to go away, stat? Rub some peppermint oil onto your forehead and the back of your neck. Relax and give this holisitc treatment some time to take effect. This essential oil can soothe the worst of headaches and can be used to imrove your energy just by smelling it. You can find peppermint oil at most drugstores, or try buying some online HERE.

Munch on somethin'

If you haven't eaten in a while and you feel that annoying achy feeling coming on, it might be a sign that you are hungry. Be sure to always keep a granola bar in your purse or backpack when you need a snack between meals.

Apply cold compress

Ease a throbbing ache by applying a cold ice pack to your forehead and back of neck. If you don't have any frozen ice packs, improvise with a bag of veggies. The cold sensation on your forehead will be an instant relief. Phew!

Change your diet

There might be a pattern with the foods you are eating that is leading you to get headaches. On the days you get them, write down all the foods you ate and the activities you did that day. The next time you get one, compare your lists and see if there is some kind of link between what you are eating and how your bod is reacting. Avoiding headaches for good might be as easy as cutting out a specific food from your diet.
