Not feelin' so hot? Turn up the tunes
In a study published in December, scientists found that when people focused on music while being subjected to painful shocks, they experienced relief. Those who came into the experiment the most anxious received the biggest benefit from the melodies they listened to.
What does that mean for you? The next time you’re freaking about a check-up or laid up in bed with a sprained ankle, try listening to music to relax your body. Pick slow, calming songs that soothe your soul. Why? The music can take your mind off your worries and pain, helping you calm down, in the case of a doctor’s appointment, or feel less pain, in the case of an injury. Hey, it’s worth a try, right?
Do you listen to music when you’re not feeling 100 percent?
