Your Bod

Those "growing pains" you've heard about? Here's what they really mean

Does a growth spurt come before your period?

Hey girl! Your period is part of puberty and becoming a woman. Most of the time, yes, girls will experience a growth spurt before their first period, but you will continue to grow for the first two years or so afterwards.

Normally, you will begin to develop breasts first, about two to three years prior to your first period. Some girls tend to gain some weight and may also experience some acne during puberty and your growth spurt. Don’t worry!  It’s just your body preparing to become a woman. Everyone’s body is unique so there is not a set timeline for how you are supposed to develop and grow.
