Your Bod

Is it normal to have hair on your boobs?

No need to head to a doctor over this one, because you are so not alone.

According to Dr. Vinay N. Reddy, assistant professor, Pediatrics and Human Development at Michigan State University, everyone has hair follicles on the skin of their chest. “During puberty, girls and boys produce some androgens (the male hormone), and the androgens are what make hair grow in places where preteens didn’t have hair, like their armpits, their chests, their legs and their pubic area,” he explains. “Some girls develop more body hair than others—not necessarily in different places, but one girl may have more chest hair than another girl.”

Even if the hairs bother you, resist the urge to shave or wax it off. “Breast skin is much more sensitive than the skin on your legs,” Dr. Reddy cautions. If you have a stray hair that’s bothering you big time, opt for tweezers instead.
