Recharge with these 10 self-care ideas

 

Calling all busy bees! September is always jam-packed with the start of school, sports practices, homecoming and the holidays right around the corner. It can be tough to find just one minute to stop and breathe, let alone ten. But taking time for yourself every day is not only important, but necessary for your mental sanity. If you're not sure where to start, no worriesjust try one of our ideas below to go from stressed-out to blissed-out in a snap.

1. Bust a move. Put on some old-school Britney Spears and dance like no one's watching (and even if they are, who cares!).

2. Just smile. Did you know the act of simply turning your lips up makes your brain happier? Cool.

3. Turn off your phone and unplug. We promise that Instagram update can wait.  

4. Play with your pet. Puppy dog eyes cure any problem.

5. Call your BFF for a a casual chat. She's guaranteed to ease your mind for a few minutes.

6. Power nap. Just don't snooze for too long or it'll have the opposite effect, leaving you drowsy.

7. Get lost in a good book. Have you read Finding Perfect yet? 

8. Soak up the sun. Whether you go for a walk or just sit on your deck, the Vitamin D will give you a boost. 

9. Clean. We know, it's usually a chore but sometimes organizing or de-cluttering is therapeutic. Give it a try. 

10. Eat a yummy snack, preferably something with protein for extra brain power. 

*Bonus* idea: Write a love letter to yourself. Sounds cheesy, we know, but it'll remind you of all the great things you have going for you. And if you're feeling extra sweet, write one to your friend while you're at it. Making others feel good makes us feel good too. Win-win.
