Eat Right
Take it without a grain of salt
The
New York Times recently reported that salt is showing up in weird
places (and they don't mean your fave salt scrub in the shower,
either). A study showed that major amounts of sodium are in foods that
don't even taste salty (like black licorice and certain whole-grain
bagels). Turns out, food makers are upping the taste of low-fat foods
with these tiny granules.
So, what's the prob, ya might be thinking. Sodium can cause heart problems later on in life and the average American already eats more salt than recommended. Wanna cut back? Eating less packaged foods will help and reading the labels will make you aware of what you're noshing.
