Eat Right
Start a Food Revolution!
Here at G-Life, we usually don’t encourage you to plop on the couch and watch TV. But we have a new show obsesh and we can’t help but share it with you.
Celeb chef Jamie Oliver had a problem with the food that school cafeterias were serving in his homeland of Britain. So he started a revolution…a Food Revolution. And he brought it to America in hopes of inspiring all of us to eat healthier and live better.
In the premiere episode, Jamie visited a school in West Virginia and noticed a major prob: pizza for breakfast! Even worse? The veggie of the day was French fries. This may sound like any junk-food lovers dream school, but c’mon. We all know that as much as we may love those fried potatoes, they don’t pack quite the same nutrients as say, steamed broccoli. So the next day for lunch, Jamie switched it up by serving roasted chicken, salad and veggies. Yummy and so good for you!
Jamie is all about making America realize that eating healthy is SO important, and he seems to have a good following. First Lady Michelle Obama recently started a Let’s Move initiative to bring healthier foods into schools. Sounds like Jamie’s got major support on this side of the Atlantic, too. We’ll be tuning in to his show on Friday (9 p.m./8p.m. Central). And, yes, we’ll be doing squats, crunches and leg-lifts while we watch.
What healthy food item will you pack in your lunch today? Or what healthy foods would you like to see while standing in line at your cafeteria? Blog it out!
