Would you try Thanksgiving-flavored ice cream? Because it's a thing now
Mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, turkey...sounds like the makings of your Thanksgiving meal, right? Yes—but what if we told you that they're also ice cream flavors?!
Because they are, thanks to Salt & Straw, an ice cream shop based in Portland, Ore. And while the combo of Thanksgiving food with ice cream may seem bizarre, the thought behind it is *super* sweet (and we mean that literally and figuratively!). According to head ice cream maker and co-founder Tyler Malek, "These flavors are meant to break down the awkwardness and stress of Thanksgiving and bring a little joy. After all, when you pass these pints around between friends and family, it's hard not to smile and enjoy the creativity in each scoop."
Bonus: For every pint purchased during the Thanksgiving season, another pint is donated to a local organization working to fight hunger in the community. (That's a cone you can definitely feel good about buying.)
And which flavor is Tyler's fave? "Definitely the Pumpkin Pie with Spiced Goat Cheese (I've always had the most wicked sweet tooth in the world!). That being said, I love love love eating a scoop of the Buttered Mashed Potatoes and Gravy ice cream, too. It's both sweet and savory and blows my mind every time I eat a spoonful."
