MAKE IT CUTE
Parties
How to work a party like it's your job
Rule #1: Arrive with bells on
And if you really want to wear bells (think: jingle bell earrings), go for it, but really, we just want you to be ready to party when your host opens the door. That means big smile, easy laughter and flirty glances, of course.
Rule #2: Don’t spend all night gabbing with the same people
Your girls are great, but think of all the other people you aren’t getting to know while you’re rehashing last Saturday’s epic sleepover. Instead of sticking to one group, be a butterfly and float around the room.
Rule #3: Be outgoing
Don’t know someone? Go on up and introduce yourself (hint: complimenting something they’re wearing is an easy in) or ask a mutual friend to do it for you. Sure, you might be shy. But guess what? Most of the people at the party don’t know that, so blow them away.
Rule #4: Don’t give in to mean girl gossip
Keep your life of the party vibe going to by staying positive. When other babes start talking trash, bow out of the convo or, if you’re feeling brave, tell these chickies that you think they totally shouldn’t be talking that way. Your positivity will be infectious.
Rule #5: Put a smile on
Even if you’re just standing there listening to another one of your lab partner’s boring band stories, turn up the corners of your mouth so you look pleasant, not looking for an escape route. Wearing a small smile will make other people see that you’re approachable—somebody they’ve gotta talk to before the night’s over. Bonus? You’ll feel way more festive, guaranteed!
What’s your one party-perfect rule?
