Don't get #StuckAtProm in a boring dress: Design your own gorgeous gown with Duck Tape!
Picking a prom dress can be a sticky situation. You don't want to show up in the same dress that six other girls bought at the mall, but you also don't want to spend crazy amounts of cash on a designer frock. The solution? Create your own gorgeous gown using Duck Tape—and possibly win some serious scholarship money.
Wait...what?
It might sound crazy, but tons of high school students in the US and Canada (seriously, like 6,000) have rocked Duck Tape dresses and tuxes to their proms. 2015 marks the 15th year that Duck Tape has held their annual #StuckAtProm design contest, and participants have won over $300,000 in cash for college (cha-ching). The contest can totally help you and your date stick together—get it?—while also letting your creativity shine. For a little more info, check out the vid below:
Grab your date and get craftin'. You two can go totally old school with a classic prince and princess vibe (Ronnita and Joseph's sweet turquoise and gold look is picture perfect) or funk things up with crazy-cool patterns and textures (like Ryan and Gabrielle's totally 20s look). Judges will be checking for originality, workmanship, accessories and—of course—use of Duck Tape. Don't have a date? Don't worry. Single stylistas can also join in the fun.
The prizes
More than $50,000 in scholarship prizes are up for grabs! This year, the grand prize-winning couple will each score $10,000 plus $5,000 for the school hosting the prom. Pretty sweet, right? Second place couples get $5,000 each and $3,000 for their school, and third place gets ya $3,000 each and $2,000 for the school. In fact, even the remaining seven couples in the top ten get some cash—$500 a pop and $500 for each of their schools.
Dates ya gotta know:
+ Contest opens: March 16

+ Online voting period: June 15-July 8
