Front row at NYFW: An insider's look at the fall shows
Noon by Noor always tops my list every season. Elegant, chic, sophisticated and ready-to-wear. There are designers who feature only couture in a collection, which is nothing short of fabulous, but what’s so great about a line that nobody can actually wear off the runway? Noon by Noor features Met Ball-appropriate designs but always includes versatile pieces like fitted blazers, trousers and (this season) adorable knit beanies! My ideal piece is this red dress featured below. I love how it’s highly flattering and super glam.
This was my first time seeing RC in person and the presentation was incredible. One of the most intriguing and unexpected lines this season: Reminiscent of something Alexander McQueen would have created in his time. Golden headpieces and edgy gowns mixed with majorly smokey eye makeup and incredible couture details. Everything from bedazzled floor length ball gowns to spontaneous short frocks took the stand. I can’t get over the gorgeous Saw-like headbands! Rafael Cennamo’s new line is the perfect collection for a risk-taking gal ready to make a huge statement.
Held at a large studio away from Lincoln Center, Christian designed his show with huge chandeliers and red curtains. It was eerie but vintage. As to be expected from the young blossoming Project Runway designer, all pieces sent down the runway were fun, not serious. Mini leather dresses, gold sequined party frocks and structured professional pieces like suits and blazers. I’d wear everything in his most recent collection and wouldn’t be afraid to rock it!
