5 tips for walking in heels

We hear ya loud and clear: Walking in heels can be tough! While achieving a runway-worthy stiletto strut isn’t something that happens overnight (whimper), we’ve got five fab tips that’ll help you get your walk on.

1. Embrace the kitten heels

Obviously, you’ll wanna leap into the first pair of 5-inch heels you see, but not so fast! The key to mastering walking in pumps is starting tiny. We recommend grabbing a pair with 2-inch heels (or wedges) to get ya used to the feeling of being a little higher up.

2. Get graceful
The trick to walking gracefully in pumps is making sure you step heel-toe. While it may feel natural to put your entire foot down at once, you’ll end up looking like you’re stomping around. Stepping heel-toe will give you balance, help you to stay poised and make you look elegant in your pretty shoes!

3. Stay straight

Nix wobbly ankles by imagining you’re walking on a tightrope. It’s imperative that you keep your feet straight, moving one foot in front of the other. This way, you’ll look easy and comfortable.

4. Stiletto study

Do your homework, hunnies! Hit up YouTube for some vids of models on the catwalk. Obvi, don’t mimic their struts IRL, but a toned-down version will help you find your confidence when walking in pumps.

5. Practice makes perfect

You knew this was coming: The best way to get used to life in heels is by walking in them…and then walking in them some more! Work on traipsing back and forth in your bedroom where you can watch your posture in a full-length mirror. Good luck!

And, try this easier-than-it-sounds high heel workout. Worth a shot, right?
