Why do guys like mean girls?


I have this crush on a guy and there's only one problem: He has a girlfriend. I don't know why he even likes her. She used to make fun of me, she flirts with other guys a lot, and a lot of people don't like her because she is so mean. Why do such great guys go for girls who aren't very nice people?


His Answer: “Because girls often act differently around guys then they would around other girls” says Dylan, 15, “they don’t like the thought of other girls being around their guy.”


Decoded: Girls often act differently around guys that they like than girls because they see them as a threat. Towards a guy, a girl will act nice and cheerful because she wants to seem like a kind person and someone that a boy would like. But girls can be mean to each other because they see them as potentially stealing their guy crush.


Your Move: Don’t stoop to her level and be just as mean. Take the higher road and be kind to all! If you are nice to everyone around you, including the girls, you will make a positive impression on the guy you like and let him see you for who you really are, and maybe change his mind. If not, you'll find a guy who prefers sweet over sour.
