CRUSHES
Advice
Survive being crushed by your crush
You’ve been in love with a guy in your grade since
kindergarten, but he’s not feelin’ it. Don’t fret! When it comes to dealin’
with the what-if woes, GL’s here to help ya deal...and move on to the next cutie.
Let it out…just a little
Nobody likes rejection—duh—so if you feel the need to rehash the sitch with your besties or cry
on your mom’s shoulder, do it! You’ll
feel better afterwards. Don’t expect to be cured, but then again, you don’t
wanna go overboard, either—it was
just a crush. Thinking about it all the time will only make you feel worse, so
instead of moping, try planning a fun day with your chicas to help get your
mind off of that guy.
It’s not you, it’s him
The same way you have guys you like and dislike, so does
your crush. Just because he
doesn’t like you doesn’t mean there’s
something wrong with you. It’s hard not to take rejection personally, but don’t
see it as a personal failure. It’s simply a signal that it’s time to move on. Maybe
you’ll even discover that your crush is a way better friend than a boyfriend.
Be a good sport
If your crush makes it clear that he doesn’t like you, you need
to accept it. Don’t try to change
his mind by changing your look or personality because, at the end of the day,
you want a guy who likes you for Y-O-U.
One more thing: Badmouthing him or putting him down will make you look
bad, not him. So instead, take the
high road by still being nice and polite whenever you see him.
Plenty more fish in the sea
Getting denied by a crush may seem like the end of your romantic world, but it totally isn’t. There are tons of crush-worthy cuties out there who could end up being perfect for you. Always remember that you’re fabulous, whether a guy likes you back or not.
