Have you ever witnessed something horrible...and not known what to do? This book is a must-read
Sometimes the worst thing you can do is nothing at all.
And, well, that's exactly what seniors Emily and Lucas did in A Step Toward Falling, a new novel from author Cammie McGovern. Though different in basically every way, both Emily and Lucas found themselves standing by, watching, as their developmentally disabled classmate Belinda was attacked.
First impressions can be wrong.
After the school finds out what Lucas and Emily did (or didn't do), they're both required to do community service at a center for disabled people. As their preconceived perceptions about the people they're helping begin to disappear, so do their perceptions of each other—an overachiever and a jock, who just might be more alike than they seem.
Forgiveness isn't easy.
But things aren't turning out so well for Belinda, who shares the alternating narrative with Emily. Still reeling from her attack, she takes comfort in Pride and Prejudice (and a super cute actor, of course), but isn't entirely able to forgive the two people who stood by and watched.
Every once in a while, you get a second chance.
All three characters are forced to confront their problems—and each other—when Belinda returns to school. The result? A touching, stunning exploration of fault and forgiveness that we seriously couldn't put down. CLICK HERE to check it out.
