Mix reality with fantasy in The Girl Who Never Was

Do your parents constantly keep you in the dark? Welcome to the world of Selkie Stewart in The Girl Who Never Was by Skylar Dorset. Selkie feels like something in her life is unexplainably off, and nobody will tell her why. But as soon as she starts asking the right questions, everything she once knew begins to crumble around her.

In this suspenseful fantasy novel about a girl straddling two worlds, Selkie’s biggest question is finding her mother. All she knows is that her mom showed up on her father’s couch one day, the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Since then, her mother has disappeared and her dad has been sent to a mental hospital, leaving Selkie’s two aunts to raise her. But to Selkie, her aunts seem crazy themselves! They don’t want her to tell anyone her birth date, talk to strangers, or update the unusual décor of their aging home.

Something is also strange with Selkie’s more-than-crush, Ben, who moves as if he is floating and hates getting wet. But his enchanting light-colored eyes and easy laugh pull Selkie in, and she begins to trust him more than anyone else…which could turn out to be a huge mistake.

The chaos begins when Selkie tells Ben her birthday, which starts the chain reaction that leads Selkie to the truth about her startling past and frightening future. She is a half-faerie princess and the fate of the magical Otherworld rests on her shoulders, which is exactly why her mother wants her dead.

To find out what happens to Selkie, Ben, and her crazy aunts, be sure to pick up The Girl Who Never Was (in stores now!).
