This year has undoubtedly been a great one for movies. We've had reimaginings of our favorite classics, stunning new animated films, awesome female superheroes and adaptations of our favorite books. You may have missed some of these awesome movies during the busy year, but now that break is coming up, it's time to kick back and relax with your family to catch up on the year's best flicks. Pop some popcorn and enjoy!

Wonder Woman 

If you love superhero movies (which, who doesn't?) you need to see the newest DC Comics powerhouse movie. Finally, a female superhero! The whole family can enjoy this film that's packed with action, adventure and, best of all, girl power. 

Coco

This movie was just released in November, and it's already getting a ton of Oscar buzz. Disney-Pixar teamed up (again!) to deliver this beautiful, visually stunning animated film about a 12 year old boy who is transported to the land of the dead. Don't worry, this movie isn't as scary as it sounds! The film is based around the Mexican holiday, Día de los Muertos, which celebrates the dead with bright colors, music and happy celebrations, rather than the spooky American concept of Halloween. The whole fam can sit down, learn about different traditions and appreciate the colors and sounds of this fun musical film. 

Beauty and the Beast

OK, if you haven't heard about the live-action Beauty and the Beast remake, I don't know where you've been the past year! This remake is a fun reimagining of an old classic, which features Emma Watson as Belle. Everyone who has seen the original will love the new details added to the film and seeing all your favorite animated characters brought to life! 

Wonder

Here's a film with a great message of acceptance and inclusion. You may have read the book that this film is based on, and what better way to share it with your fam than to sit down for a screening of this movie? If you don't know, the film follows a child with Treacher Collins syndrome as he tries to fit in at school, make friends and be a normal kid. This movie will give you and your fam all the feels. 

Star Wards: The Last Jedi

If your parents grew up watching Star Wars, I bet they can't wait to see the next installment of this awesome series. This movie comes out Dec. 16, perfect timing for your fam to make a trip to the theater. Plus, nothing beats real movie theater popcorn, right? If you need a refresher course before the new film, your family can enjoy several movie nights—after all, there are eight Star Wars films so far!
