Daya's "Sit Still, Look Pretty" video is so powerful

If you've picked up our October/November issue, you know everything there is to know about our girl Daya. Like how she chose her stage name (spoiler alert: Daya isn't her given name!), deets from her first ever full-length album and how she handled—well, you'll just have to pick up an issue to find out about that last one.

It should come as no surprise that we've been jamming to her "Sit Still, Look Pretty" all summer long. Honestly, it's our #girlboss anthem and though fall is just ten days away, our love for the track shows no signs of lessening—especially after the much-anticipated music video was released on Friday. In just that short amount of time, it's racked up over 600,000 views—wow! Haven't seen it yet? Press play below!

The video reinforces the theme of the song, that women are strong and capable human beings (like, duh). The vid depicts Daya dressed as several different "ideal" women literally sitting on a pedestal (definitely referencing how women are held to a higher standard in society than men), but by the end of the video, Daya takes charge and has the last laugh. Looks like some viewers were a bit confused, though, considering this is currently one of the top comments on the video:

That definitely gave us a good chuckle, but judging by all the thumbs up this viewer wasn't alone.

What do you think of Daya's new video? Did you understand it right away, or do you relate to Nicole's comment?
