5 music vids that'll *really* make you think

We know summer is the time to zone out and relax your mind, but that doesn't mean you need to *totally* switch your brain off. But if you have, we recommend these five deep and powerful music videos to get those gears moving. As you dance and sing along, pay attention to the lyrics. These artists are sharing more than just a good beat.

"Treat You Better" by Shawn Mendes

Just last week, Shawn released a music video for his latest hit "Treat You Better." This song reminds girls that they deserve nothing less than a gentleman and shouldn't tolerate an abusive relationship. If you or someone you know is in this kind of relationship, please reach out to The National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.

"Scars to Your Beautiful" by Alessia Cara

Alessia Cara is on the rise again with her new video for "Scars To Your Beautiful." This video, which includes interviews from ordinary people, is all about overcoming societal beauty standards and learning to love yourself for who you are. As Alessia says, "You don't have to change a thing, the world can change its heart."

"Big Girls Cry" by Sia

In this simple music video featuring one of our faves Maddie Ziegler, Sia expresses that it's better to free your emotions rather than stifle them. Be true to who you are, girls, no matter what society may think.

"Hands" by Interscope Records

Following the Orlando nightclub tragedy, some of your favorite artists, including JLo, Selena Gomez, Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani, came together to create the song, "Hands." This colorful and expressive video was made to unite our nation during a difficult time and features victims of the shooting, members of the LGBTQ+ community and influential YouTubers.

"Where Is The Love?" by The Black Eyed Peas

With everything going on in the world right now, this throwback tune is a good one to revisit. The Black Eyed Peas call out hatred and violence and ask that people please focus on love and kindness instead. We can't think of a better message to spread right now.
