Check out Mariah McManus' chill debut

Nineteen-year old Los Angeles indie pop/folk singer-songwriter Mariah McManus has a tone similar to Demi Lovato, the mellow coffeehouse vibe of Angel Taylor and the storytelling ability of Taylor Swift. In other words? She’s going to be a big star.

Her first single “Say It Again” off her debut album Nice to Meet You, which released today, sums up that butterfly-jitters-falling in love feeling perfectly. I couldn’t help but wonder if she stole my diary when she sings, “And if it’s quite alright/ I’d like to be the only one on your mind.”

The title track “Nice to Meet You” brings me back to carefree days at the beach scoping out cuties with my BFFs. It tells the story of a whirlwind end-of-summer romance—and you can’t help but root for Mariah when she croons, “I found a reason to stick around just a little bit longer/You’re the reason I’m here.”

Mariah’s got some pretty perfect tunes for the breakup blues, too. “Shame On You” is a ballad for a relationship gone bad, while the powerful lyrics of “Unarmed” were featured alongside McDreamy and McSteamy on Grey’s Anatomy last year.

Seriously, I can’t help but want to play Nice to Meet You on repeat over and over again. Be sure to pick up your copy of this 10-track album, available now. Then come back and let us know your thoughts.

Catch “Say It Again” here!

Will you be adding Mariah McManus to your “New Artists” playlist? Blog about it, babes.
