Miley! Oprah! All the details on Facebook and Instagram's virtual graduation

For many high school and college seniors, quarantine and social-distancing have rendered traditional prom and graduation impossible. We already filled you in on some prom alternatives, and now Facebook and Instagram are announcing a *huge* online event to celebrate *your* graduation.

On May 15 at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT,  the social media giants will broadcast #Graduation2020: Facebook and Instagram Celebrate the Class of 2020. The commencement address will be given by none other than Oprah Winfrey, and Awkwafina, Lil Nas XSimone Biles and more will share words of wisdom for the class of 2020. Plus, Miley Cyrus will do a special performance of her hit song, “The Climb.”

To make the event even more special and personal, "the ceremony will acknowledge high schools and colleges in the U.S. by name, state by state, including photos and videos of the class of 2020 and messages from deans and principals across the country," the official Facebook release reads.

The fun doesn't stop with the live broadcast, though — there are a ton of little elements that will make the week an unforgettable one on social media. "On Monday, May 11, @instagram will kick off daily programming that spotlights iconic senior experiences — from “most likely” votes to portrait showcases to senior skip day," the release continues. "Instagram will also roll out new creative tools and features including a graduation countdown sticker, celebratory sticker pack, new AR effects, and a custom hashtag page for #Graduation2020."

Are you excited for the Facebook/Instagram graduation content? Is your school reinventing graduation in a creative way this year? Talk it over in the comments!
