Meet Elizabeth McLaughlin from THE CLIQUE
You love the books, now watch the movie! Yep, you read that right.
After much anticipation, The Clique is heading to DVD THIS TUESDAY,
NOVEMBER 18.
We chatted with newcomer Elizabeth McLauglin, who plays Pretty Committee leader Massie Block, and this super-talented chica is normal beyond belief.
From sleepovers to dealing with gossip, we’re giving you the Top 10 reasons why anyone would be lucky to have this girlie as part of her crew.
Check it out!
1. She’s a Clique follower
“I was a huge fan of the books. I read them all before I even got the audition. I loved [them] so much I read all more than once. My favorite is The Pretty Committee Strikes Back or Sealed With A Diss.”
2. She puts others first
“I really care about people’s feelings. Sometimes, I don’t think Massie does. I don’t think she thinks about how what she does affects others. Especially when there’s a new girl in town or in class. I try to be really warm and welcoming to them. I try to branch out to them because I know what it feels like to be that. I just want to make those people comfortable. Massie, not so much.”
3. She’s a fashionista
“It was so cool to be dressed in all these major designers [for the film]. One of the dresses I wear is [from the] Gwen Stefani L.A.M.B. line and it was probably one of the prettiest things that’s ever been on my body. I didn’t get to keep anything, sadly. Please, I would’ve taken anything they offered to give me, especially the shoes. Massie Block has the greatest shoe collection I’ve ever seen.”
4. She’s a slumber party pro!
“[During filming] we had little sleepovers in each other’s rooms and we’d go out to the posh little restaurants in Newport, Rhode Island [where the film was shot]. So we had all of these inside jokes and pranks that [basically] evolved from the entire production.”
5. She forgoes gossip
“Gossip is definitely part of The Clique, as it is in any teenage girl’s life. It’s hard to escape that. But the best thing you can do is just look the other way because half of the stuff doesn’t even matter. A friend of mine had come up to me [and] told me that one of my best friends was going out with my boyfriend. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh. Is this a rumor? Is it true?’ I talked to both my boyfriend and my best friend and found out it was a lie. That was kind of the line where I said, ‘I’m not going to listen to any of this unless I think there’s any sort of truth in it.’ The best thing you can do is not listen. Only spread truth, not rumors.”
6. She knows how to have fun
“I’m probably one of the goofiest people you would ever meet. My friends joke around and they say, ‘Can you please stop using those big words? They’re going in one ear and out the other.’ People think I’m serious all the time, but I’m really a massive goofball. I’ll do something and just break into dance at any random place.”
7. She’ll shop ’til she drops
“Me and my friends play this little game every once in a while where we will designate an honorary stylist for the day. We’ll go shopping and the stylist will pick out everybody’s outfits that they are going to buy and put it together. That’s one of my favorite things. I think if the acting doesn’t work out, I definitely want to be a stylist, whether for costumes, movies or celebrities in general.”
8. She has phobias, like everyone else
“I’m deathly afraid of house cats and robots. When I was in 7th grade I was at a friend’s party. He had this adorable little cat and she had climbed up on an awning and roof of a porch. I [stood] below it, trying to get her down, and she jumped on my face and ended up scratching it. It like clawed itself into my skin, so I really can’t be in a room with a cat anymore. And the robot thing, I don’t know. I think I’m afraid that they’re going to take over the world or something. My friends kind of tease me with it. Those little robots that go around your house and vacuum. My best friend in Florida had one of those and her older brother used to get the remote control and make it chase me.”
9. She can be herself
“I feel a little piece of each [The Clique] character in me. But I really love Dylan’s character. She’s so funny and just herself. She’s kind of a tomboy in the way that she burps and that sort of thing. She just does her own thing. And she also loves to eat. I love to eat. My favorite food is probably all the different sorts of bread, like French, Italian, garlic and herb, that sort of thing.”
10. She has amazing style
“[The one thing in my closet I can’t live without would be] my scarves and hat collection. I love really old vintage-y hats that look really different and unique and I love scarves. I have a million and four scarves. My grandmother actually gave me some of her old scarves from the ‘40s to the ‘70s and they’re all silk and amazing. The outfit that I’m wearing right now actually has a bright pink scarf with navy blue lines all over it. I’m a big fan of vintage. It’s like taking pieces that were in style a long time ago and modernizing it to today’s style. I think that’s really cool and original.”
