Spotlight onKeke Palmer
Gavin Bond/Nickelodeon
You might already know her as the sensational spelling bee champ in the hit flick, Akeelah and the Bee, but this weekend Keke Palmer is out to prove that she’s not just the queen of the big screen!
In her television series debut in True Jackson, VP, on Nickelodeon, Keke plays True Jackson, a 15-year-old who becomes the vice-president of Mad Style, the youth division of a major fashion label. Viewers will watch as True adjusts to her new lifestyle, balancing her workload as a fashion exec with her family obligations, friendships and love interests. The show is complete with a great supporting cast, some hilarious adventures and a few tough grown up dilemmas that True must resolve.
It’s perfect for Keke, who admits that fashion is one of her greatest passions. “If I ever got a chance to have my own fashion line, I’d jump on it in a minute,” she explains. “My career involves a lot of fashion, and that’s what I’ve always been interested in. I’d be delighted to be working in fashion.”
Now, with a TV show and a few major movies under her belt, Keke’s got some serious star power. So how does she feel about it? “I’m definitely on a whirlwind and I’m just so blessed right now,” she says. “I’m just so glad that everything is happening right now and hopefully it can remain this way. It’s just been so great, and I’m so fortunate to be doing all the things that I’m doing right now. It’s truly a blessing.”
And she’s humble, too! For more Keke Palmer, make sure to tune into Nickelodeon this Saturday, November 8 at 9:30 pm for the world premiere of Keke’s new series, True Jackson, VP.
