WORLD EXCLUSIVE! "Taylor Swift defended me during her concert!" How one Swiftie's experience with a security guard went viral
It was the "She's fine!" heard 'round the world. On Saturday, May 13, Kelly Kelly (yep, that's her real name!) was dancing away during the second night of the Philadelphia stop of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour. Kelly, a die-hard Swiftie, had snagged front-row seats along with her sister and a couple of friends, including her bestie Jennifer Chin, and they were having the time of their lives. That's when a security guard tried to intercept their fun—and Taylor took notice. Here, Kelly and Jen tell GL what really went down.
@iwant_her_midnights @Taylor Swift defending this fan from a security guard who was overly aggressive in responding to normal concert enthusiasm was everything last night 🙌 she really does have her fans' backs 🫶 #badblood #theerastourphilly #tstheerastour #taylorswift #theman ♬ original sound - S 💋
Girls' Life: Set the scene. Where were your seats and how close were you to Taylor?
Kelly: Our tickets were for the fourth row, which really would have been the coolest thing ever. But the way the stage was set up, the fourth row was actually the closest to the stage. We had no idea.
Jen: When we got to our seats and saw where they were, we were so excited, we were almost in tears. We were hugging each other and jumping up and down. We never thought we'd be so close.
GL: So that excitement carried into the concert, and you were just living it up, right?
Kelly: Oh yeah, our excitement level was insane. And the funny thing is, we made friends with the security guards! They loved us. We took selfies with them. But there was one guy who had issues.
GL: And that's the guy who gave you a hard time?
Kelly: Yes. We noticed him right away. There were a bunch of security guards kind of making the rounds and he just seemed to have issues with us. My sister even said, "Kelly, chill out, or he's going to yell at us again." But we were literally just having fun. We weren't trying to rush the stage or do something crazy. The stage is actually really tall. There's no way we could have gotten to the stage or close to it.
Jen: And besides, we would never have done anything like that. We were just dancing. And he kept yelling at us and telling us to get back.
GL: So Taylor starts to sing "Bad Blood," and what happens?
Jen: The security guard was not having it with our dancing. He actually stood in front of Kelly and totally blocked her view. And then Taylor noticed us and said, "She's fine," then, "She wasn't doing anything. Hey, stop! Stop!" It didn't sink in right away, but then I realized she was talking about Kelly! I remember grabbing Kelly and being like, "Wait, did that just happen?"
Kelly: I had no clue! But then, almost immediately, the security guard was escorted out by other security guards. Next thing we know, we're bombarded by these people in black polos and wearing earpieces. We later figured out that they're the top people in Taylor's security team. They were asking me all of these questions like, "Did he put his hands on you?" which he didn't—I want to make it clear that I wasn't a victim in any way. So I just answered all of the questions while trying to pay attention to what was happening on stage. It was all so surreal. It was my 13th concert on the 13th of May. And you know, 13 is Taylor's lucky number. So something was bound to happen.

GL: Were you able to watch the rest of the show after that?
Jen: I feel like Kelly did miss out on the secret songs at the end because Taylor's team was so focused on her and getting her statement.
Kelly: It was all such a blur honestly. I didn't really care, though. I mean, Taylor noticed us! And they gave me a guitar pick plus four free tickets for the show the next night, which was really awesome.
GL: And we assume you took them up on that offer?
Kelly: Of course! I'd never turn those down. The seats were unreal again. I thought for a second that maybe we'd get to meet Taylor, but that didn't happen. Still, we were so happy to be there for another night.
GL: So what does your experience say about Taylor Swift?
Kelly: She always does these big gestures to make her fans feel special. It was surprising it happened to me, but really not surprising that it happened. Taylor always goes out of her way to show Swifties love, and this was no different.
Jen: Kelly is the biggest Swiftie I know. So the fact that she noticed her...I mean, that's like a dream come true.
