Our favorite music video from each Taylor Swift album
All hail Taylor Swift and the beautiful art that she creates with her music videos. Tay's music videos are some of the most viewed music videos on YouTube. She has always been specific about catching the essence of each of her songs within music videos, and we love searching every vid for her Easter eggs! Consider this your official guide to T-Swift's best music videos (ranked by album, ofc).
1. Taylor Swift: Our Song (2009)
Let's take a look at one of Tay's first videos (and songs) that became iconic. "Our Song" was one of Taylor's first country hits, so of course she had to go all out for the video. We heart her use of color in this video. (The floor of roses?! The purple dress on the stoop?!) Also, those gloves and dress while she jams on her guitar—we love the old-school style. When you think country Taylor, we *know* you're thinking of this video!
Honorable mentions: Teardrops on My Guitar, Picture to Burn
2. Fearless: You Belong With Me (2009)
Remember that infamous moment when *someone* tried to steal Taylor's Video of the Year MTV music award? Well, guess what? She was winning for THIS iconic gem! "You Belong With Me" has all the visuals you would imagine while listening to this song. Tay plays a friend-zoned girl who is in love with her adorable neighbor. Only problem is, the guy is dating the popular girl at school: also played by Taylor (in a brunette wig!). We love the high school teen vibes in this video, and *especially* how Taylor ends up with the boy.
Honorable Mentions: Love Story, Fifteen, White Horse
3. Speak Now: Mine (2010)
Taylor's music videos have always been able to show the stories that her lyrics describe in a beautiful, detailed manner. These scenes within the video show the different stages of a relationship: the complicated moments, the beauty and the forgiveness. We can't think of a better way to watch the story of "Mine" play out!
Honorable Mentions: Sparks Fly, Ours
4. Red: We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (2012)
Obviously, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is one of Taylor's biggest smash hits. So naturally, the music video had to meet those expectations. Tay brings our city dreams to life in this video, showing an iconic dance party where she is surrounded by her friends and band, after she breaks up with her troubled boyfriend. We will never be able to hold in dancing to this bop!
Honorable mentions: I Knew You Were Trouble, 22
5. 1989: Blank Space (2014)
1989 brought the fire with music videos! Tay did not miss the mark with any of them, but we *had* to give it to "Blank Space". It became the fastest video in Vevo history to accumulate ONE BILLION VIEWS. Let. That. Sink. In. Tay used the boy-obsessed image of her that had been painted by the media to her advantage, embellishing it into the aesthetically pleasing video we have watched thousands of times.
Honorable mentions: Bad Blood, Wildest Dreams, Style, Shake It Off
6. Reputation: Look What You Made Me Do (2017)
After two years of silence, Taylor caught everyone's attention with the "Look What You Made Me Do" video. With several Easter eggs, fans were able to decode the revenge anthem that led to her album Reputation. After being called "fake" and a "snake" online, Tay owned those terms and brought them to life in this video—and on her Reputation stadium tour. Let this be a message to the Taylor haters out there: don't come for Miss Swift.
Honorable mentions: Delicate, End Game
7. Lover: The Man (2020)
In Taylor's directorial debut, she transforms herself into a man to display the worst aspects of toxic masculinity. This song commands the attention of all who listen as it calls out double standards and sexism. We love Tay taking a stand with her own creative twist.
Honorable mentions: Lover, You Need To Calm Down
8. folklore: cardigan (2020)
When folklore shocked the world, so did "cardigan". The dazzling video features a glowing Swift, who plays the piano in a shimmering forest and later clings to a piano in a rough ocean scene. The lyricism of "cardigan" is effortlessly brought to life in this video, showcasing Taylor's keen eye for detail.
Honorable mentions: betty (Live from the 2020 Academy Country Music Awards), exile (folklore: the long pond studio sessions | Disney+)
9. evermore: willow (2020)
"willow" was the lead single off of Taylor's surpise album evermore. Accompanying the beautiful song was a dreamy music video, featuring an extension of the story that began in "cardigan". The video embodies the "dancing witch" vibes that Tay has since tweeted about in reference to this song.
Honorable mention: cardigan / august / willow (Live From The 63rd GRAMMYs ® / 2021)
Other Taylor vids we *need* to give a shoutout to...
We'd be remiss if we didn't mention some of our favs that weren't attached to an album.
All Too Well The Short Film (2021)
Obviously we needed to shout this one out! Taylor wrote and directed her first short film for the fan-favorite "All Too Well (10-minute version)". The short film features Dylan O'Brien and Sadie Sink, two huge Swifties, and paints the perfect picture of the iconic breakup anthem.
I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor's Version)
Okay, we love this one. Miles Teller (swoon) and Tay, with Blake Lively directing?! Of course this video was going to be srsly cool.
Artist of the Decade Performance (Live at the 2019 American Music Awards)
When Taylor was awarded the prestigious Artist of the Decade Award at the 2019 American Music Awards, she pulled out all of the stops for a show-stopping performance. Honoring some of her greatest hits, she lit up the stage and showed everyone why exactly she deserved this award.
Out Of The Woods (Live from the 1989 World Tour)
One of our fave live performances of Taylor's is from her 1989 World Tour. She gives it her all in this one, and we can't help playing it over and over again.
All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Live from Saturday Night Live)
Again, we can't get enough of this song. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, Tay blessed us with a live performance like no other! Srsly, just click the link and watch.
