Chloe Grace Moretz is the new Little Mermaid. But not in the way you think.

 
The Disney princess movies are childhood classics—but did you know that most of them are retellings of old fairytales? Disney's The Little Mermaid, the story of 16-year-old Ariel, is actually based on a story by Hans Christian Anderson, and now the original is coming to a big screen near you—starring Chloë Grace Moretz.

That's right, Chloë is playing the little mermaid, but not the redheaded songstress that we're familiar with. Instead, Universal's version of the story will probably be a lot darker than what you're familiar with. After all, those old school fairytales don't usually have the happily-ever-afters we've often heard of.

We don't have too much info yet about the film, but if Chloë's starring in the project, we have no doubt that she'll rock the role.
