In this latest episode, Jimmy signs his daughter Kira as the newest artist to his label. And for her first performance, Kira wants to sing one of Ally’s song. But Ally wants to sing it herself. Uh oh.

We got a chance to catch up with Laura Marano, who plays the talented Ally, before this week’s episode. Turns out, Ally wasn’t the only one who was nervous to perform!

GL: This is going to be a big episode for Ally. Were you nervous to sing and perform solo for the first time on the show?

Laura: Oh my goodness, yes! I had the opportunity to co-write the song [Ally performs] so I'm basically experiencing the same thing she currently is: I am SO excited for everyone to hear it, but also crazy nervous because I really want everyone to like it.

What’s one of the funniest things that happened while filming this latest episode?

I am supposed to angrily hit a piñata because I'm upset about my meeting with Jimmy Starr. Well, my incredible lack of athletic ability was revealed when I couldn't actually hit the piñata. Every time I would try, I would miss. It was pretty hilarious.

It’s a known fact Ally struggles with stage fright. What's one trick you can share with our readers to help get over that?

Sometimes, the most daunting thing about performing is making eye contact with your audience, so just look above them and at the corners of the room. Soon, you'll totally forget they’re there.

What's one song you secretly blast when you're alone in your room?

Currently, it would be Queen's “Somebody To Love.” I LOVE that song.

If you could write a song with any other artist right now, who would you pick?

Well, I'm pretty obsessed with Sara Bareilles. She is so talented, and I feel like I would learn so much from her.
