Jessica Sanchez talks debut album and Glee
Jessica: Probably “U Got The Love” because it’s more of an urban kind of song. I used to do urban-like stuff before I was discovered and I think my fans who saw me on TV didn’t get to really see any of that.
Was there one track off this album that was the toughest to record?
I think “Crazy Glue.” It’s so high up there in range, like pitch, for me.
Who are your biggest influences—musically?
Definitely Beyoncé and Michael Jackson. I love them and their voices!
If you could team up with another American Idol alum for a song, who would it be?
Adam Lambert. He was my favorite on the show and I listen to his songs all the time.
You’re guest starring on the final two episodes of Glee this May. Tell us a little bit about that.
I’ll be playing a student from a rival school. I’m supposed to be this kind of diva, but also really sweet. I’m very excited because I’m a big fan of the show and have been following it for a while.
Well if you could swap iPods with one Glee cast member for a day, just to kind of see what they listen to, who would you pick?
Probably Lea Michele. She seems like a rally cool, colorful, different kind of person.
Between your experience on Idol and putting out your debut album, what’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Just never give up. The competition and everything in this industry can be very stressful. But if you want it bad, and it’s one of those things that’s really hard to get, just keep going no matter what. That’s something I’ve kept in my head and close to my heart.
