Let It Shine's Coco Jones shares the secret to confidence
Why do we heart Coco Jones (yes, the Radio Disney Next Big Thing vet) because she’s just so adorable! Read on for our exclusive interview with the star.
GL: What do you heart most about your Let It Shine character, Roxie Andrews?
Coco: How much confidence she has. She starts off as this bigger than life pop star—the insecure one who listens more to what people say than what she thinks about herself. But in the end, she’s so confident. It’s one thing we have in common.
What’s your biggest confidence-boosting secret?
Be proud of yourself because you are one in a million. If you believe in yourself and have fun being you, then you are ultimately going to succeed no matter what.
What’s one of the funniest things that happened while filming Let It Shine?
I was doing the dance for “What I Said” and pulled one of the feathers out of my hair. So it was just [dangling] on my fingers while I was dancing and I was like, ‘Hey, what’s that from my hair?’”
Hilarious! What are your biggest summer fashion musts?
I love long, flowy summer dresses in bright colors. And definitely cute, crazy sunglasses that stand out.
Any favorite summer snacks?
I really love Salt & Vinegar chips. Those are my favorite things ever. Whenever I go somewhere I am like, ‘Do you guys have Salt & Vinegar chips here?’ And they are like, ‘Yes, Coco.’”
What’s the best piece of advice you could give other teens out there trying to break into acting and singing?
Just make sure, if it is something you love, give it your all. Put all you have into it.
Be sure to catch Coco in Let It Shine this Friday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel.
