If you’re a fan of Suzanne Collins’ sizzling series, you might want to mark March 23, 2012 on your calendar right now.

Lionsgate just announced plans to transform the first installment of the best-selling trilogy into a full-fledged movie. The futuristic thriller centers around 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who steps in for her sister in the Hunger Games, an annual brutal fight in the nation of Panem.

Gary Ross, known for his work on Seabiscuit and Pleasantville, is slated to direct the flick. But our bigger question is, who will he cast as the lead teen role—and the other core characters.
