Faux fur

Once upon a time, faux fur was a big no-no. Faux furs were only reserved for the divas of the world—Mariah Carey, J-Lo… (In other words, the most fab women in show business) but 2014 was different. This past year, fashion icons everywhere stood their ground and decided anyone can embrace their inner celeb and rock fur. Not only is this trend super chic, but boy is it cozy! Have you ever worn your faux fur vest to school? You fell asleep in History class because it felt like a blanket, didn’t you? Don’t worry girl, we did, too.

Animal print

We love walking on the wild side with fashion, but animal print really lets our natural instincts shine. When struttin’ our stuff in zebra, cheetah, leopard, and even crocodile patterned clothes and accessories, we feel like Miley circa 2010 when she couldn’t be tamed (ha, not like she can be tamed now). Ferocious is the only word that can describe our attitude when rocking animal print and we can’t get enough. Thank you, 2014, for allowing us to embrace our inner fierceness.

Crop tops

Who knew showing a bit of skin could be so classy? At GLHQ, crop tops are our downfall. We love crop tops. No matter how you style ‘em—with shorts, with skirts, with high-waisted pants, ahhhh there is so much fabulousness in showing your midriff these days. Crop tops are such a fun trend—you can make your look sweet and sassy or edgy and fierce. All we know is that we are incredibly thankful that it’s super chic to rock a crop.

If you’ve been a fan of GL for a long time, you probably know how obsessed we are with skater skirts. We love this fun trend because it instantly makes your outfit. These skirts are made in every color and pattern possible and are the easiest way to add a pop of color or a playful pattern to your daily ensemble. You can rock these skirts with everything from a comfy T-shirt to a super cute blouse. Swap out your everyday jeans with a skater skirt and your outfit will scream fashionista. If you don’t have a skater skirt hanging in your closet right now, you NEED this 2014 staple because our prediction is that it will only get more popular in 2015.

Mix and match studs

Looking back on 2013, we realize how stressful our lives were. Matching our earrings every day? How crazy were we? When we lost a match to our fave stud, we’d actually throw the other one away. THIS IS NOT OKAY. Mix-and-match earrings were one of our favorite trends of the year not only because of how convenient it was when you lost a match, but because you didn’t have to decide which pair of earrings you’d wear—you could wear both! Basically, we got to have our cake and eat it too, and let us tell you, we looooove cake.
