How to recreate Reneé Rapp's Mean Girls pink carpet look

Get in loser, we're going to obsess over Reneé Rapp's edgy pink carpet look at the Mean Girls premiere. If you ask us, it's totally mean-girl-meets-grunge-meets-rockstar. But our fave part of her modern take on the 2000s Regina George? Her cool-girl shag (that is *so* fetch).

The comeback of Mean Girls (a cultural reset, obvi) and its style rebrand isn't just reserved for the fabulous cast members: Reneé's hairstyle can totally be recreated at home. That's right, we're making fetch happen again—it'll be like our little secret.

No need to borrow Damian's shirt for this modern Mean Girls makeover, because hairstylist Dana Boyer has *all* the deets for this iconic transformation. Inspired by Regina's chaotic yet confident character, this disheveled yet put-together look def measures up to our "just a little dramatic" It-girl.

Step 1: Tangles? Ew!

Tangle Teezer Ultimate Detangler, $16 | Nexxus Humectress 20-in-1 Perfector, $20

Tangly hair? She doesn't even go here. To get that flawlessly smooth and silky look, start by detangling your mane with a gentle brush or comb. Then, add some heat-protect spray to save your strands.

Step 2: Hair parting party

Tangle Teezer Ultimate Backcombing Hairbrush, $14 | Nexxus Mousse + Voluminizing Foam, $16

Rumor has it, everyone is invited to the hair-parting party—no scream today (iykyk)! Using a tail comb, part your hair into small sections. Then, rub in some volumizing foam on dry hair and use your handy comb to evenly distribute the treatment through.

Step 3: Making waves

Nexxus Comb Thru Finishing Mist, $14

To replicate Rapp's effortless waves, Dana Boyer recommends using some finishing mist to perfect that textured-meets-undone vibe. While using an iron to create subtle bends in your hair, spray each lock of hair with some mist to hold the waves in place as they set.

Step 4: Back to the roots

Nexxus Dry Shampoo Refreshing Mist, $16

Regina may be cold hard plastic, but our girl Reneé keeps it real with the help of some refreshing dry shampoo. Spray some of this at your roots, then use the tail comb to lift the top section with a little bit of backcombing. We love a little lift for that extra volume (bc our hair's full of secrets, duh!).

Step 5: End finale

Nexxus Maxximum Finishing Mist, $9

For the ending number, it's only fitting to Rapp it up with some finishing mist. Ensuring a strong hold and an effortlessly edgy vibe that will last all day long, you'll be set to strut down the school halls, any day.
