Space-inspired makeup looks that are *truly* out of this world

via GIPHY

At GL, we're always on the lookout for the next big thing in makeup. The latest trend taking over our feeds: galaxy makeup worthy of outer-space royalty. Food, hair, and anything else you can think of has already been ✨galaxyified✨, so it's only natural for makeup to follow. Want in? Prepare to be inspired by some of the *best* space-inspired looks we've seen + a few fun facts about the world beyond.

Galaxy eyes

This dreamy look is giving us major Area 51 vibes. Pair with space buns for a rad photoshoot look or theme a Halloween costume around the blue and purple hues. And don't be afraid to go overboard with stars—the actual Milky Way galaxy is estimated to have about 100 thousand million (!) of them.

Galaxy lip art

Watch this talented MUA turn her lips into a canvas for a cosmos.  You'll need a few lip liners + a jewel-toned palette to recreate this look, but the results are worth it. While we typically associate space with purple shades like the ones above, scientists have found that the average color of the universe is a beige called Cosmic Latte.

Galaxy blush

Bringing sparkle and contour to a colorful look, this tutorial has us starry-eyed for sure. Whether you rock this galaxy on Halloween, during school spirit week, or at home, you're sure to collect the compliments. Speaking of galaxies, ever wonder where the word galaxy comes from? It traces back to the Greek galaxias, aka milky, after the Milky Way galaxy we live in.

A cracked galaxy

This look is *insanely* realistic. The makeup artist behind it could make a career in painting, but we're glad she's blessing us with her looks on YouTube in the meantime. The cracked effect is the perfect way to complete a scary costume in October. Feel free to connect your stars into a constellation—there's one for every astrological sign.

Galaxy freckles

The final galaxy makeup look we're spotlighting is a glowy, shimmery work of art. If you're a part of the #nofreckles fam, this tutorial is for you. We love how this artist added cat ears to bring the look together. In real life, a cat named Félicette became the first feline to go to space in 1963.
