The newbie's guide to...the 5-minute face
Snoozing through your alarm can make a super hectic morning. Speed up your routine with our fastest ever get-ready tips. We bet you can nail it in under 3 if you really try (just don't apply mascara on the bus, OK?).
PRETTY FILTER
After applying your products, go in with a damp makeup sponge (for an upgrade try Jenny Patinkin Pure Luxury Non-Toxic Sponge, $32 for 2, bluemercury.com) to soften edges.
CONCEALER QUEEN
The hero of your makeup bag? Concealer. "It is the ultimate multipurpose product," explains makeup artist Jenny Patinkin. "It covers dark circles, camouflaged blemishes and evens out any discoloration. You can also use a brightening formula as a highlighter." Skip foundation and just focus on the areas that need a little extra love.
DREAM CREAM
Add color and glow by blending a cream blush onto eyes, cheeks and lips. "Cream formulas blend easily—and you can use your fingers to apply them," Patinkin says. She recommends keeping the color sheer for every day or building up coverage for more drama.
GET GLOSSY
"Dry, chapped lips can make the rest of your face look dull," says Patinkin. Layer your lips with a shimmery gloss to make them appear hydrated and full. "Plus, very glossy lips are making a comeback." An added bonus: You can tap gloss onto your cheekbones for a little added highlight. So pretty!
YOUR PERFECT MULTIPURPOSE PRODUCT
Keeping your lids, lips and cheeks all in the same color family (aka monochrome makeup) always looks pulled together, says Patinkin.
