5 skincare habits you should ditch right now

ICYMI, taking good care of your skin is an absolute must. We all have our different skincare routines, but chances are we're all making similar mistakes. Kick these five skincare "sins" to the curb, and you'll be saying hello to gorgeous, healthy skin in no time.

1. Sleeping in your make-up

Who isn't guilty of this slip-up at one point or another?! We're all human, but it's *super* important to let your skin breathe and shed dead bacterial cells while you catch some zzz's. Our top tip? Leave make-up wipes or misceller + cotton pads on your bedside table so you won't forget to take your makeup off at the end of the day.

2. Not using a moisturizer

If you're an oily-skinned babe, chances are you've been afraid to add even *more* oil to your skin by using moisturizer. Think again. Without moisturizer, the skin naturally becomes oilier to compensate for the moisture it's not getting. Here are just a few of Sephora's recs for the best oily skin moisturizers.

3. Using products with alcohol

News flash! Skin PH balancing products (such as toner) do more harm than good. While these regimens may *seem* like they'll keep your skin shining, they actually cause increased dryness. To read more on how alcohol-based products can cause breakouts, click here.

4. Not wearing sunscreen

We *cannot* stress this one enough. Regardless of your skin tone or the temps outside, applying SPF daily is an absolute must. Not only does SPF reduce wrinkles as you age, but it also protects against skin cancer. GL intern Audrey (hi, that's me!) hearts Neutrogena's Pure & Free Liquid SPF for daily use.

5. You aren't cleaning your make-up brushes

When was the last time you cleaned your beauty blender? What about your eyeshadow brushes? Keep your beauty blender fresh by washing it thoroughly with anti-bacterial soap after every use. Cleaning mats like this make it easy to give your brushes the TLC they deserve.
