7 summer hair sitches and how to solve 'em

Salt water, heat, chlorine, humidity–the list of things that can wreak havoc on our hair during the summer is endless. We're always so focused on our next slumber party or BBQ that the last thing on our minds is finding remedies for these daily tress dilemmas. Never fear, though, these products will tame your mane in a snap.

1. Problem: Tangled hair

Solution: Bed Head Beach Freak Moisturizing Detangler Spray, $19.00

This mango-tangerine scented spray will solve all your sticky, tangled hair problems. The spray moisturizes your hair, so while you're brushing out tangles you're also softening and nourishing your strands. Combing and styling becomes much easier when using this spray, reducing damage with every use.

How to use: Spray all over damp or dry hair and comb through.

2. Problem: Frizzy hair

Solution: Living Proof Humidity Shield, $22

Ugh, summer means humidity and for some girls that means dealing with frizzy hair. Have no fear ladies, Living Proof Humidity Shield provides 6x more humidity protection. It's actually supposed to stop frizziness before it starts, not fix it after. It also protects your hair from UV damage and controls static, which is one of the causes of frizz in the first place. Looks like you can tame the frizz afterall!

How to use: Spray anytime, anywhere on dry hair.

3. Problem: Unruly curls

Solution: Aveda Be Curly Curl Control, $25

Instead of making your curls look droopy and sad, Aveda allows your hair to relax and settle down into softer waves, not crunchy, tight ringlets. Enjoy minimizing volume and frizz while lengthing and loosening curls with this citrus-scented spray.

How to use: Shake well, apply liberally through damp hair. Diffuse using a hair dryer and diffuser attachment or air-dry.

4. Problem: Green hair from chlorine

Solution: Baking soda, $2.35

Everyone knows that the lighter your hair is, the more likely it is to turn a subtle share of green from chlorine in pool water. One of the cheapest and easiest remedies to combat that unwanted color is baking soda. In a bowl, take 1/4 or 1/2 cup of baking soda and mix enough water to form a paste. Coat the green areas and masage into your strands, then rinse out. Use shampoo and conditioner to throughly clean your hair after rinising. It make take a few tries for the green to finally leave, but you'll be left with healthy, perfectly-hued hair after.

5. Problem: Sunburned scalp

Solution: Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral SPF 45, $30

Ok, so this product is a little pricey, but the mineral SPF is perfect for preventing scalp burns. Instead of putting greasy sun lotion on your head, dust in this powder the same you would dry shampoo. Because it's made with minerals, it will calm down redness, help fight acne, and won't cause irritation even if you have sensitive skin. (Pssst! This is a multi-use product. Try it on your face for the same protection *and* as a mineral veil.)

How to use: Dust on top of scalp before heading out in the sun. Re-apply every 2 hours.

6. Problem: Split Ends

Solution: Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask, $18

UV rays tend to dry out our hair and cause our ends to split, but it gets worse during the summer when it's hot and dry out. The best way to soothe brittle hair is with Moroccan oil because it will add moisture. However, know that this will only provide temporary relief. The best way to heal split ends is by trimming your hair.

How to use: Apply to towel-dried hair and comb through. Seal in afterward with a conditioner. Use once a week.

7. Problem: Lifeless hair

Solution: Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner, $5.59

Lifeless hair can ruin pretty much any outing, whether it's to a date or a to a music festival. Combat the heat and humidity with coconut milk products in your shower routine. It will increase the shine and restore volume in your roots. Instead of buying actual coconut milk, use Organix's conditioner remedy instead.

How to use: Condition after washing hair. Let sit for 2-3 minutes.

Take that, summer! Which products will you be trying out, GL girls?
