4 ways to style a trendy topknot for #BunDayMonday

Let’s go back: The bun has always been an underrated hairstyle, until right now. We remember piling our hair up on those bad hair days, or of uptight ballerina concoctions (so many bobby pins!) or those moments when we just want to tie on a scrunchy and have a casual hair day. Today, the bun is trendier than ever, being the talk of the town and spotted on everyone from fashion editors to street style stars to even the red carpet. Get ready to rock your own topknot:

    The pretty twist
If you like the sweet and pretty updo look, Mandy Moore’s style is definitely for you. Cute it up ballerina-style with a medium height tight bun. Soft makeup seals the deal.
Tip: To hold everything in place, use a couple bobbies in an X formation. Lightly loosen a few wisps around the face for an easy undone look.

    The sky-high ’do

Love a retro vibe? Take a page from Kat Graham’s book with a high bun and a chic headwrap. This look flatters all face shapes and can fancy up your night-out get-up in a flash.
Tip: Braid a high pony and then fold it into a bun style. Add a wide headband to set the style.

    The boho bun

For a bohemian look with a modern twist like Blake’s, just make things messy. Leave a few pieces dangling and scrunch up the bun to keep things feeling wild ‘n’ free.
Tip: Spray dry hair all over with texturizing beach spray before you go all bunhead.

    The sleek set

Go flawless. Hayden Panettiere pulls off the sleek, pulled-back hair look ever so well. If you love some sophistication and poise, then all you need is a hair tie and one big brush (to get those locks as straight as possible) and you’re good to go. Twist the bun at the crown of your head for a look fit for a queen.
Tip: For super sophisticated buns, use a high shine serum to really smooth out any frizzies.
