My Cuticles are So Dry - Help!
My cuticles are dry to the point that they bleed. I’ve tried everything to keep them nice. What should I do?
Ragged cuticles are a drag, but you can make those mitts pretty with just a little extra effort. Here’s our easy how-to:
1. Don’t pick.
When your cuticles are dry, it’s easy to pick at them. That’ll just make the problem worse and make them bleed even more. If your cuticles are buggin’ ya, wait until you get home from school and soak your hands in a bowl of warm, soapy water. Then, use an orangewood stick wrapped in cotton to gently push back your cuticles. Rinse your hands and apply a thick lotion.
2. Keep lotion handy.
Make sure you have a rich moisturizer on ya at all times. Make sure to slather some on every time you wash your hands of your skin is feeling dry. Check the label before you buy lotion, and look for one that contains vitamins A and E and doesn’t have alcohol in it (which will dry your skin out even more).
3. Show those cuticles the love.
Drinking lots of water and eating healthy foods will ensure your skin stays supple. Make sure to include good fats in your diet, like nuts and fish, which are particularly beneficial to keeping skin awesome.

Before you head to bed, apply cuticle oil. This will help keep the skin soft and less ragged. Don’t wanna splurge? Rub some olive oil on dry patches.
