3 Breezy Summer Updos
When the weather is h-o-t, a girl’s gotta get her long locks off of her back. But by week, say, two of summer, the traditional pony starts to get a little bit boring.
Here are three cute new ways to wear that hair up, up and away. The best part? They’re sooo easy to do!
The Look: The Top Knot
Ultra-high, super-simple buns are making their way around the stylish set. This style looks most fresh when you have a bit of bangs in the front (to avoid being too ballerina-inspired).
The How-to: Start with dry hair. Apply some texturizer to your locks. Use your fingers to scrape hair back into a super-high ponytail and secure with an elastic. Gently twist locks and wind them around the elastic. Secure with some bobby pins. Loosen some of the strands if it looks too tight. Done!
The Look: Sidewinder Pony
Sky-high side ponies trotted out on the fall runway as a sporty alternative to your everyday ’do. Why wait to wear ’em though?
The How-to: Start with damp strands. Use a beach spray to enhance any wave ya got. Then, coax hair into a super-high ponytail that’s right above one of your ears. Secure with an elastic. Get ready to sip lemonade all day long.
The Look: A Petite Poof
A little oomph in the front takes a low bun from so-so to stylin’. It secretly works when you’re hanging out if you’re hitting the town for dinner. Brilliant!
The How-to: Gather a small section of strands from just above your forehead. Use a comb to gently backcomb them for extra volume. Secure at the top of your head with a tiny elastic. Then, pull all of your hair into a pony at the nape of your neck. Twist locks into a bun and keep it in place with a couple of elastics.
