Want more hair volume? The secret is tress prep

Strands keep falling flat no matter how many products you use? We found the culprit.

"Make sure to get trims or haircuts every three to six months to get rid of dead ends and help maintain your hair's volume," says trichologist and V&CO. brand ambassador Sophia Emmanuel.

Another possible strand sabotager? Your scalp. "If your hair looks flat, it might be because you have an excess of oil," explains Emmanuel. Work a scalp detox treatment in once a month and use a scalp brush in the shower to get the most out of your shampoo (try a thickening formula to help boost body).

And when you need an instant fix in a pinch? Grab a texturizing spray and spritz in sections onto the roots of your hair, then fluff.
